Obituary of Ernesto E. Martinez, Jr.

Ernesto E. Martinez, Jr., 72, of Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2017, at his home in Muscatine.  Cremation rites have been facilitated by the FCS Life Transition and Cremation Center, located within Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery.  Memorial services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at the Jesus Mission Church.  Following the services, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Pearl City Outreach.   Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church.  A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Ernesto.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.  The Geo. Ernesto Escobar Martinez, Jr., was born on March 20, 1945, in Sinton, Texas the son of Ernesto E. and Esperanza (Escobar) Martinez.  Ernesto was united in marriage to Pauline Proa and later divorced.  On February 12, 2007, he was united in marriage to Gerlinda Day in Muscatine.  Ernesto worked as a Union Steward for I.B.P. in Guymon, Oklahoma.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren.

Ernesto will be missed by his wife, Linda of Muscatine; his children, Esperanza (Tim) Brockert of Muscatine, Jesus (Julia) Martinez of Muscatine, Anita Ramirez of Rock Island, and Nancy (Dean) Ash of Muscatine; step children, Frederick Cogdill of Salem, Oregon and Jose Cogdill of Muscatine; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and niece and nephews; siblings Janie (Ramiro) Hernandez of Muscatine, Connie Bloomhuff of Davenport, Domingo Martinez of Muscatine and Linda (Kevin Plowman) Besick of Muscatine; special nephew, Carson Platt of Muscatine and his dog, Zoey.

Ernesto was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Frank and Ernesto, two daughters, Herlinda and Pauline and two brothers, Frank and Ricky.
