Obituary of James E. Hughes

James “Jim” E.  Hughes, 74, of Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at his home.  Cremation rites have been facilitated by the FCS Life Transition and Cremation Center.  No formal visitation or services will be held at this time.  Inurnment will be held in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Nancy E. Kent Humane Society or the UI Stead Family Childrens Hospital in Jim’s name.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

 

James Earl Hughes was born on November 26, 1942 in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Jack M. and Geraldine H. (Sharar) Hughes.  On January 5, 1980, Jim was united in marriage to Carol Ann Taylor at Trinity Episcopal Church in Muscatine.  Jim had worked for HON Industries as and Inventory Control Manager for several years and had spent the last 25 years delivering for Wonderbread.  He loved flying his plane, was a member of the EAA-Experimental Aircraft Association and enjoyed classic cars.

 

Jim will be deeply missed by his wife, Carol Hughes of Muscatine; children, Michael Hughes of Vero Beach, FL, Steve Hughes and wife, Missy of Ocean Springs, MS, Todd Fisher of Muscatine, Angela Waack-Miene and husband, Tom of Wilton and Suzanne DeBoer of Omaha, NE; six grandchildren, Ryan Waack, Meghan Waack, Alex Hughes, Jake Hughes, Grant De Boer and Olivia De Boer; and brothers, Doug Hughes and wife, Debra of Muscatine and Tom Hughes and wife, Karen of Dublin, CA.
