Obituary of Viola M Billingsley
Viola M. Billingsley, 98, of Muscatine, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2019 at Pearl Valley Care Center. Funeral Service for Viola will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Interment will be in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Muscatine Humane Society. Viola Marguerite Cochran was born on April 26, 1921 in Nichols, Iowa, the daughter of Roy C. and Caroline E. (Meyers) Cochran. On July 8, 1939, Viola was united in marriage to Hubert Mathis in Muscatine. She later married Ellis Billingsley on December 31, 1971 in Muscatine. Viola had worked at Automatic Button Company for 25 years, Thatcher plastics for 22 years, and the Sand Mound Restaurant. In her retirement years she cleaned at the Stanley Building. She was a former member of the Ladies of the Moose and enjoyed gardening and taking care of animals.
Viola will be deeply missed by her niece, Lois (Verle) Powell of Florida; great nieces and nephews, Ken (Shirley) Weggen of Muscatine, Katie Igler of Florida, Gary (Katherine) Gray, Steve (Karen) Gray, Cindy Gray, Dan (Margaret) Gray, Lauri Gray and Mark (Mary) Gray, all of Muscatine; several great-great nieces and nephews and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
Viola was preceded in death by her parents; both of her husbands; brothers and sisters and two nephews, Michael and David Gray.
