Obituary of Dixie L. Schwab

Dixie L. Schwab, 75, of Columbus Junction, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.  Visitation will be held on Friday, May 31, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction.  Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at the Columbus City Cemetery.  Following the committal services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church.ay 22,   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Columbus Booster Club in memory of Dixie.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

            Dixie Lea Collier was born on June 7, 1943, in Louisa County, Iowa the daughter of Orville O. and Lucy Marjorie (Dunham) Collier.  On October 5, 1962, Dixie was united in marriage to Paul W. Schwab in Columbus City, Iowa.  Dixie was a nurse at Colonial Manor for many years and a member of the Columbus City United Methodist Church.  She was also involved with the United Methodist Women and Adult Fellowship.  Dixie enjoyed crocheting, sewing, wood crafting and was an avid gardener, but most of all, she loved to spend time with her family and watching her grandchildren’s school events.

Dixie will be deeply missed by Paul of Columbus City; her children, Anne M. Schwab and fiancé, Glenn Reiser of Mine Hill, NJ, Robert O. Schwab and wife, Chrisann of Columbus Junction and William H. Schwab and wife, Valbona of Newton, MA; four grandchildren, Will Schwab, Brynna Schwab, Zana Schwab and Lira Schwab; one brother, Richard Collier of Columbus Junction and many nephews and a niece.

            Dixie was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Judy Carpenter.
