Obituary of Gwen J. Quigley

Gwendolyn J. Quigley, 89, of Muscatine, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 22, 2019, in her home surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Interment will be in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery.  Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held in the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Community Room.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.   A memorial has been established for Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) in Gwen’s name.  Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Gwen was born on March 23, 1930 in Newton, Iowa the daughter of Bennett and Cora (Shane) Humes.  In 1956, she was married to Willard J. Quigley in Marshalltown, Iowa.  Gwen had worked as a Nurse in various hospitals for over 25 years.  She was a long time member of the Muscatine Seventh-day Adventist Church.  Gwen enjoyed singing, giving Bible studies and volunteering at the Seventh-day Adventist Community Service Center.  Her greatest love was the time she spent with her family.

Gwen will be deeply missed by her children, Stuart (Tammy) Quigley of Buffalo, MO, Mitchell (Deweese) Quigley of Lakeside, CA, Matthew Quigley of Petersburg, IL and Melissa (Daniel) Spilger of Atalissa,; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and sister, Georgia Quigley of Muskogee, OK.

Gwen was preceded in death by her parents and her husband and five siblings.
