Obituary of Edith Lucas
Edith L. Lucas, 90, of Muscatine passed away on Friday, July 26, 2019 at Lutheran Living. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held at New Hope United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2019 at the funeral home. A memorial has been established for New Hope United Methodist Church in Edith’s name. Edith Lucille Skipton was born on May 2, 1929 in Morning Sun, Iowa, the daughter of Frank W. and Pearl L. (Chrissinger) Skipton. On July 16, 1948, Edith was united in marriage to Walter W. Lucas in Muscatine. Edith was a homemaker all of her life. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist where she participated in the Marantha Class and served on the United Methodist Women and the Outreach Committee.
Edith will be deeply missed by her daughter, Teresa (Charles) Smith of Muscatine; son, Kevin Lucas of Moscow; two grandchildren, Timothy (fiancé, Yolanda Rocha) Smith and Whitney (Nahum) Heath; six great-grandchildren, Mercedes, Kaden and Karson Smith, Jaslene Moreno, Yecenia Echols and Sadie Echols; siblings, Jean Dusenberry and Shirley (Harry) Etter, both of Muscatine; sister-in-law, Kay Skipton of Burlington; brother-in-law, Roger Charbonneau and many nieces and nephews.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Steven and Leslie Lucas and siblings, Ivy “Sis” Charbonneau, Louis Skipton, Robert Skipton, Leonard Skipton and Hazel Barrick.
