Obituary of Eldon L Hotz
Eldon Hotz, 74, of Iowa City/Lone Tree area, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2019, at Pioneer Park. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at the Lone Tree American Legion Post 457. Military Rites conducated by the American Legion Post 457. Following the Military Rites, there will be a time of food and fellowship at the Lone Tree American Legion. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Lone Tree American Legion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Pioneer Park/Lone Tree Care Center or Lone Tree Athletic Booster Club. Online condolences for the family may be sent to www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.
Eldon Hotz was born on February 11, 1945 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Harry and Blanche (Weber) Hotz. Eldon was a 1963 graduate of Lone Tree High School and attended Iowa State University. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. On September 21, 1968, he was united in marriage to Nancy Johnston at the South Bethel Methodist Church, rural Tipton. Eldon was a farmer in rural Iowa City, he owned and operated Apple Orchard Prints for seven years and retired as a Correction Officer from Oakdale after 14 years of service. Eldon was a past member of the American Legion, Pork Producers and the Cattlemen Association. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, gambling and the Iowa Hawkeyes. His great love was spending time with his family.
Eldon will be deeply missed by his wife, Nancy; children, Jeremy (Taiya) Hotz of rural Iowa City, Ben Hotz of Lone Tree and Abby (Pete) Franks of Lewistown, Montana; three grandchildren, Wesley and Will Hotz and Tine Franks; step-grandchild, Devin Franks; two brothers, Cecil (Molly) Hotz of Riverside and Marvin (Carolyn) Hotz of Iowa City and nieces and nephews.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter, Emily Hotz.
