Harold and Janice Duffey posted a condolence

Janice and I were close friends and classmates with Les through high school and he and I were childhood friends. Janice’s mom, Betty Fish, and Wilma remained friends through their lives. We were very saddened to hear of his passing. Joyce, you and your family have our deepest sympathy. There are so many memories. We had so many good times together including enjoying sports and cars. Les loved to tell stories for a good laugh like the time he convinced John Galloway that Janice’s dog Duke, a very large Golden Retriever, was really mean. As they were coming across the yard Duke came running around the corner to greet them. Janice walked out to find John had vaulted himself up on the 7 foot front porch. Les was laughing and petting Duke. It makes us laugh just to remember. Rest in Peace, Les.
With love, Harold and Janice Duffey, Mesa, AZ

I remember Les as a little boy always full of energy, very happy and "cute as a button". He and his Mom (Wilma) and Dad (Harold) and his brothers visited my family often and the adults played cards while the kids played games. My Dad (Harold Maher) was very fond of Les and his brothers, they made him laugh with their antics. My sincerest condolences to his family. From a cousin, Beverly (Maher) Garde.

Joyce, I am so sorry for the grief you and your family are enduring. He was such an amazing man! I will always cherish our time together at the social clubs (Wacky Waters, Adventureland and the hotel parties) and the other times our families got together or to watch him and my father (Brian Criswell aka Bear) play softball together. Thank you for your service, Les. You will be missed and never forgotten! Love, Candice Criswell

Les loved to eat and was one of the best cooks we had on the department. Invariably whenever Les ate he would spill some food onto the front of his shirt. To this day whenever anyone spills food on their shirt we affectionally say they Schaped themselves. Miss you brother.
