Obituary of Doris June Schulte

Doris June Schulte, age 88 of Mediapolis, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Prairie Ridge Care and Rehab Center.  Funeral Mass for Doris June will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 17, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dodgeville, with Rev. Marty Goetz as the celebrant.  Interment will be in St. Mary’s Church Cemetery.  Visitation for Doris June will be Wednesday, October 16, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis.  Memorials have been established for St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Mediapolis Ambulance Service. Doris June Korf was born on September 14, 1931, the daughter of Merritt and Gladys (Fisher) Korf.     On August 5, 1950, Doris June was united in marriage to Leo Schulte at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a church organist for over 50 years.  She loved playing the piano and singing in church and community choirs.  She was a true, blue, Cubs fan, a Hawkeye at heart and a bridge club member.  Most of all she loved being with her family and grandchildren, playing scrabble and spending time at the river cabin. 

Her family includes, three sons, Dennis and Kathy Schulte of Sperry, Jim Schulte of Mediapolis, Richard and Jennifer Schulte of Phoenix, AZ; one daughter, Joan and Gary Honson of Davenport; grandchildren, Samantha (David) Shissler, Bennett Honson, Matthew Schulte, Elizabeth Schulte, Jake Schulte, Megan Schulte and Leslie Schulte; great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Lucille; siblings, Diane (Tony) Patterson, Merideth (Dan) Holsteen and Ed (Joyce) Korf and nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Leo and sisters, Janice Knoll and Helen Johnson.
