Obituary of Florence Evelyn Rath

Florence E. Rath, 85 of Riverside, died Monday, June 20, 2005 at the Lone Tree Health Care Center in Lone Tree following a short illness. Funeral services for Florence will be at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, June 23, 2005 at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Riverside. Pastor Bev Marshall-Goodell will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Riverside Public Cemetery in Riverside. Casketbearers will be Joe Stransky, Russ Rath, Darrin Doerres, Bernard Forbes, Melissa Holway and Shelley Rath. After the committal service at the cemetery there will be a time of food and fellowship at the St. Mary�s Parish Center in Riverside. Visitation for Florence will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2005 from 4:00-7:00pm at the Sorden-Lewis Funeral Home in Riverside. Florence Evelyn Forbes was born October 6, 1919 in Conesville, Iowa the daughter of Vernie and Ida (Heath) Forbes. On October 8 1940, Florence was united in marriage to Everett Rath in Cedar Rapids. Florence was a homemaker and helped on the family farm. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and her flowers. Florence will be missed by her son, Ron Rath of Riverside and daughter-in-law, Dyann Rath of Tiffin; four grandchildren, Darrin Doerres and his wife, Lisa of Riverside, Melissa Holway and her husband, Les of Oxford, Russ Rath and his wife, Cyndy of Dallas Center and Shelley Rath of Davenport; seven grandchildren, Brittany, Mitchell, Carson, Carter, Claire, Alyssa and Wyatt and two brothers, Warren Forbes of West Liberty and Lyle Forbes of Lone Tree. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Everett, two daughters, Karen Rath and Reva Kuhser, four brothers, Daris, Lester, Wayne and James and two sisters, Helen and Beulah.
