I'm sorry to see Tom go. Tom and Julie were incredibly generous to me when I was young and penniless. My bed all through law school was a fold out couch that some furniture store had thrown out and they put in the truck and gave it to me. We didn't see each other for many years. He called a while ago to say he was sick and we managed to meet a few times.. I can only imagine how it felt to be him and have to tell people that. I'm very grateful he did. I'm sorry for all of you, too.He was good guy.

Are hearts are with the Wenger family.
Tom’s first motocross race is a memory I will never forget. Tom was in his twenties and had bought a brand new green and white Yamaha Dirt Bike along with matching helmet, boots, knee guards, gloves and jersey. He was so proud of that bike. I remember how nervous he was, but excited about his first race and the sport of Motocross. I thought he must be nuts to be racing motocross, but he was confident and this was going to be his quest.
We pulled into the parking area for that his first race and he started seeing some of the older riders checking out their dirt bikes for any problems. We pulled in to an empty place and unloaded his dirt bike and he started checking his bike like everyone else. Tom was so excited to be walking a motocross track for his first time. He was looking for the smoothest line to take and giving the jumps the eye. In my eyes this was really scary, but Tom was ready to race.
Now it was practice time for Tom. He went out and did a couple laps, I could tell he was really nervous, but it was practice and he took his time and learned the track. The finish line was really scary with a big jump, but he went over it real slow and did not jump it.
The moment Tom had been waiting for, “Race Time!” Tom got lined up at the starting gate with the other riders who were all more experienced than Tom. To Tom the most important thing was to just stay on his own two wheels and he would do great.
The gates went down and Tom was on his way to keeping the bike on its wheels the whole race. The more he rode the faster he went and you could see his confidence building. Tom finally finished the race. Since this was his first race he didn’t expected to win. Tom came back to his pit area, sweating, out of breath and beaming from ear to ear, to Tom he was the winner.
I could tell how proud he was that he kept the bike on its wheels the whole race. We loaded up the bike and went home. There were many races to come after his first race, but this is a memory I will never forget and it’s hard to forget someone who gives you memories.

I just heard of Tom's passing. I grew up with tom and spent many summer days at his house and in the neighborhood. His father took us on boat rides and to drag races. He and I built model cars together and shared a love of the automobile and being boys.
I saw him this last summer. we sat on the benches in front of Stanley's and talked for 3 hours. We talked about the past, his illness, what we remembered about our lives. I got so much from that talk and I hope he did too. Although we didn't keep in touch for most of our adult lives I have always had a special place in my heart for him. Here's to you Tom, where ever you may be.

Tom was a great guy that I've known since kindergarten. I'd like to claim him as my six grade boyfriend. He asked me to skate and held my hand at a skating party in Muscatine. I went to some of his swim meets at Weed park. I recently saw him in July 2016 at Hubble's bar. I'm very happy I got to see and talk to him at that time I took some pictures with him and now they are precious memories

Sue and Wenger family,
I am so sorry to hear of Tom's death. He was a friend to so many and a man who loved his family. His presence will be deeply missed. I used to hang out with him and his crowd back in the mid 80's and one of his most meaningful blessings, was his gift of laughter and it was contagious.
I am so aware of the darkness that surrounds the disease of cancer. We truly must find a cure for this dread disease.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences and know that Tom is most certainly with our Holy Savior.
Blessings,
Joe Beckey
