Obituary of William "Bill" Russell Cubbage
William “Bill” Russell Cubbage, 88, of Independence, formerly of Muscatine, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the Mental Health Institute in Independence, Iowa. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Interment will be in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Following the service, a time of food and fellowship will be held at Sycamore Baptist Church. Visitation for Bill will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Bill’s name. William “Bill” Russel Cubbage was born on July 18, 1928, in New Boston, Illinois the son of Virgil and Effie Marie (Kenney) Cubbage. On August 5, 1952, Bill was united in marriage to Carol P. Johnson in Muscatine, they later divorced. On June 25, 1989, Bill was united in marriage to Eleanore Midkiff, she passed away in 2012. He was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church and the Moose, he also enjoyed fishing, tinkering with small engines and most of all he dearly loved to spend time with his family.
Bill will be deeply missed by his five children, David (Pam) Cubbage of Nebraska, Jeff (significant other Gale) Cubbage of Muscatine, Teresa (Ron) Brown of Muscatine, Tammy James of Muscatine and Tina (Harlan) Lohff of Letts; two step children, Candy Hunter of Iowa and Sam Midkiff of Missouri; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sister, Ella Jump of Malcolm; brother, Gary Willits of Aledo, Illinois; two sister-in-law’s, Beth Willits-Watkins of Elkhorn, Wisconsin and Dolores Willits of Milan, Illionis; and brother-in-law, O.K. Collins of Waterloo.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three sons; a granddaughter; a great- grandson, four brothers; and four sisters.
