Obituary of Wilma Jean Bixby

Wilma Jean Bixby, 79, of Columbus Junction, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.  Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction.  Burial will be in Columbus City Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Friday, June 2, 2017, at the funeral home in Columbus Junction from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.  A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Wilma.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. 

Wilma Jean Reid was born on August 15, 1937, in Letts, Iowa the daughter of Virgil D. and Vera (Bush) Reid.  On February 23, 1957, Wilma was united in marriage to Lewis G. Bixby Jr. in Muscatine, Iowa.  Wilma was a member of the Church of Christ, she enjoyed cooking, baking, fishing, camping, dancing and most of all spending time with family and friends.

Wilma will be dearly missed by her husband, Lewis Bixby of Columbus Junction; children, Rodney Bixby, Jerry (Alice) Bixby, Lonnie (Shelby) Bixby all of Columbus Junction; daughter-in-law Mary Bixby of Columbus Junction; eleven grandchildren; twenty two great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Wilbur (Georgia) Reid of Muscatine, Ralph Reid of Lander, WY, Illa Trumbull of Muscatine and Irene (Smitty) Smith of Grandview.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; son, Daryl Bixby; and three sisters, Virginia Pendell, Erline Adkins and Mary Severtsen.
