Obituary of Cecil L. Fuhlman
Cecil L. Fuhlman, 89, of Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017, at Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. on Friday, June 9, 2017 at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery Cemetery with military rites by the combined units of the V.F.W. Post 1565 and the American Legion Post #27. Following the interment a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Community Room. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Childrens’ Hospital or the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in memory of Cecil. Sympathy notes for the Fuhlman family may be left at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.
Cecil LaVerne Fuhlman was born on December 23, 1927, in Conesville, Iowa the son of Max Henry and Ida M. (Sissel) Fuhlman. Cecil proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII attaining the rank Seaman 2nd Class. On November 20, 1948, he was united in marriage to Laura Mae Shetler in Iowa City. Cecil worked for Alcoa Aluminum for 37 years before retirement. He was a member of the Calvary Church, American Legion Post 27 and the Masonic Iowa Lodge II and was an avid golfer.
Cecil will be deeply missed by his three sons, Cecil Fuhlman, Jr. of Bettendorf, Max Fuhlman and wife, Debbie of Aberdeen, TX and Steve Fuhlman of Fruitland, four grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers and one sister.
