Obituary of Duane O. Tomlin
Duane O. Tomlin, 89, of Inverness, FL., formerly of Illinois City, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017. Funeral services for Duane will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 16, 2017, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Burial will be in the Illinois City Cemetery with military rites by the combined units of the V.F.W. Post 1565 and the American Legion Post #27. Following the interment a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Illinois City Methodist Church. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be sent in his name to Illinois City Cemetery Association, PO Box 34, Illinois City, IL. 61259. Duane Omer Tomlin was born on Saturday, September 10, 1927, in Illinois City, Illinois the son of Joseph O. and Arvilla M. (Frye) Tomlin. He married Helen A. Hildlebaugh on October 5, 1947. Duane was a Navy Veteran of World War II and a member of the VFW, American Legion, and the Moose Lodge. He retired from International Harvester Farmall Plant after 34 years of service.
Duane will be dearly missed by his wife of 69 years Helen, his children, Linda Runyon (Bud) of Tampa, FL., Craig Tomlin (Eileen) of Muscatine, IA.; brother Dean Tomlin (Judy) of Monticello, IN, sister Lila Keller of Illinois City, IL.; grandchildren, Damon Andresen (Kristina) of Tampa, FL, Tanya Centore (Drew) of Lutz, FL., Corey Tomlin (Amy Axeen) of Muscatine, IA., Matthew Tomlin (Liz) of Edgington, IL, Brandon Tomlin (Ashley) Edgington, IL.; great grandchildren, Evan Andresen, Sydney Andresen, Nathan Centore, Alexis Centore, Tanner Centore, Ashley Tomlin, Tiffany Tomlin, Kyle Tomlin, Lucas Bagwell, Lance Bagwell, Rayce Tomlin, Addyson Tomlin, Nataleigh Tomlin, great great grandchild Sebastian Whittington and their dog, Trixie.
Duane enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, fishing, playing cards, building things, spending time with his friends and family and ice cream.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Larry Tomlin and Keith Tomlin.
