Obituary of Pauline Breneman

Pauline Peters Breneman passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the Colonial Manor Care Center.   She was 100 years and 8 months old.  The family will host a Celebration of Life Service on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at the American Legion in Columbus Junction.  Light refreshments will be served.  Please come and share stories memories of Pauline. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home for the Cotter Presbyterian Church in Pauline’s name.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.  The Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services are caring for Pauline’s family and arrangements. 

The daughter of Omrie and Effie Venice Peters she was born November 16, 1916, raised in Cotter and graduated from Cotter School.  After attending Beauty School in Burlington she married Gerald Breneman.  They had two children, Rita Kay and Gerry Rae.  Gerry was killed at age 19 in a car accident in 1963. 

Pauline and Gerald owned and operated “Your Market” in Columbus Junction for many years before their retirement.  Gerald died in 1980.  Pauline was an active member of Cotter Presbyterian Church from childhood.  She cherished her church family, extended Welch family and friends. 

She is survived by her daughter Rita and her husband, Dennis Ballard who reside in Columbia, Missouri.  Their three children, Mark, Scott and Carey were the light of Pauline and Gerald’s lives.  Mark lives in Columbia, Missouri, Scott in Gainesville, Georgia and Carey in Girdwood, Alaska and six great-grandchildren, Emma Pauline Ballard of St. Louis, Lindsay, Eric, Kelli Ann, Brandon and Danielle of Gainesville, Georgia.

Parents Omrie and Venice; brothers, Bill, Kenny, Keith and Bob; sister, Lillian Fisher all died earlier leaving Pauline as the oldest child to survive that Peters family.
