Obituary of Wilma Fern Stransky-Lange

Wilma Stransky-Lange, 78, of Central City, formerly of Riverside, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at Jones County Regional Medical Center in Anamosa.  Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 14, 2017, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside.  Rev. David Brownfield will officiate the services.  Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.  Following the committal service at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the St. Mary’s Parish Center.  Visitation for Wilma will be held on Sunday, August 13, 2017, from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside with a 3:00 p.m. prayer service.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Wilma.  Online condolences for the family may be sent to www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.  The Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services of Riverside is caring for Wilma’s arrangements and her family.

Wilma Fern Hahn was born on March 31, 1939, in West Branch, Iowa the daughter of William and Sylvia (Tuttle) Hahn.  She was a 1957 graduate of West Branch High School.  On November 23, 1957, Wilma was united in marriage to Duane “Bud” Stransky in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside.  Following Bud’s passing in 1992, Wilma was united in marriage to Allen Lange in October of 1997.  Wilma was a homemaker and also worked at Joann’s Fabrics.  She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside and enjoyed sewing, babysitting, gardening, watching Western movies, dancing and had a love for Gladiolas.

Wilma will be deeply missed by her husband, Allen of Central City; her children, James Stransky of Riverside, Jeffry (Sue) Stransky of Riverside, Joseph (Julie) Stransky of Riverside, Jeannette Hein of Tipton, Victoria (Don) Chalupa of Riverside, and Julie (Bob) Ellis of Colfax, North Carolina; 13 grandchildren, Jake, Tim, Brittany, Tony, Rebeca, Brandon, Chris, Megan, Adam, Zach, Kaytlin, Robyn and Lauren; 13 great grandchildren; and siblings, Sylvia (Dean) Smith of Iowa City, Anna-Marie Sleethe of Parnell, John (Pati) Hahn of Riverside, Vivian Hahn of Iowa City, David (Pat) Hahn of Iowa City, Kenny (Cindy) Hahn of Iowa City, Charlotte (Frank) Hahn of Iowa City, Bill (Cathy) Hahn of Iowa City, Mary Hahn of Solon and Charlie (Diane) Pence of Iowa City.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bud on March 4, 1992, and one brother, William “Butch” Hahn.
