Obituary of Terry Walter Hora

Terry Walter Hora, 74, of Riverside, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.  Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday August 19, 2017, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside.  Rev. David Brownfield will officiate the services.  Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.  Following the committal service at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the St. Mary’s Parish Center.  Visitation for Terry will be held on Friday, August 18, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside. Terry Walter Hora was born on September 3, 1942 in Washington, Iowa, the son of Walter and Lucille (Havel) Hora.  He attended schools in Washington and graduated from Washington High School in 1960.  On September 21, 1963 Terry was united in marriage to Joan Kay Klein in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside.  Terry had worked for Central Ready Mix in Iowa City for 10 years while farming on the side.  He enjoyed NASCAR racing, farming, hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. 

Terry will be deeply missed by his wife, Joan Kay Hora of Ainsworth; daughter, Becky Thomann and her husband, Ken of Riverside; son, Pat Hora and his wife, Traci of Ainsworth; sister, Debbie Stender and her husband, Joe Stender of Elkader, IA; six grandchildren, Katlin, Kelsey and Mackinze Hora and Kyle, Kristy and Macey Thomann; nephew, Tate Stender; niece Kiana Stender and also other nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Linda.
