Obituary of James Grubaugh

James “Jim” Grubaugh, 77, of Muscatine, went home to be with the Lord on October 3, 2017 at the Simpson Home in West Liberty.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 9, 2017, at 10:30 A.M. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services.  Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.  Visitation for Jim will be held on Sunday, October 8th from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.  A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home for Walnut Park Baptist Church.  Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. 

James Edward Grubaugh was born on November 26, 1939, in Iowa City the son of Virgil and Bertha (Hamlin) Grubaugh.  Jim was raised in Stockton area and graduate from Durant High School. He attended Moody Bible Institute and Muscatine Junior College.   On January 13, 1962, Jim was united in marriage to Edith “Edie” Starkweather in Muscatine.  Jim had worked for Alcoa for 34 years retiring in 2001.  He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his family.  Jim will be remembered for his unique personality and his ability to fix anything. 

Jim will be deeply missed by his wife, Edith; children, Joseph (Ronica) Grubaugh of Muscatine; Teresa (David) Horton of Muscatine and Shellie (Jerry) Lee of Muscatine; four grandchildren, Jennifer Horton, Suzzanne (Nate) Pace, Andrea Grubaugh and Jacob Grubaugh; two step-grandchildren, Amanda (Kyle) Peterson and Matthew Lee; one great-grandson, Zeven Pace; two step-great grandson, Aaron and Brock Pace; three step great-granddaughters, Emery and Hadley Peterson and Annabelle Lee; numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lawrence Grubaugh and Clifford Smith; one sister, Ruthann (Harvery “Bud”) Turner.
