Obituary of Evert Eugene White

Evert Eugene White, 79, of Muscatine, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at his home in Muscatine.  Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 20, 2017, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services.  Military rites  will be provided by the combined units of the V.F.W. Post 1565 and the American Legion Post #27.  Following military rites, a time of food and fellowship will be held in the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Community Room.  Visitation for Evert will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to Unity Point Hospice, Muscatine American Legion Post #27 or the Muscatine V.F.W. Evert Eugene White was born on October 14, 1938, in Muscatine to Evert and Charlotte (Estabrook) White. He graduated from Muscatine High School in 1956.  Evert was united in marriage to Judy Stickrod in 1958 in Muscatine and later divorced.  Evert proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1956-1959.  On August 17, 1963, Evert was united into marriage to Sandra K. (Noble) Zumwalt in Muscatine.  After serving for 32 ½ years at H.J. Heinz as a buyer, he retired on December 31, 1992.  Evert coached and was a board member of the Muscatine Little League and Muscatine Youth Baseball for many years.  He also enjoyed playing fast pitch softball with and against some of the world’s best pitchers and players in the 1960’s and 1970’s, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.   

Evert will be missed by his wife, Sandra White of Muscatine; four children, Travis (Wendy) Buster of Forney, TX, Tony White of Muscatine, Cory (Kay) White of Wilton and Tammy (Jason) Reynolds of Cottonwood, AZ; step-son, Wayne (Debra) Zumwalt of Muscatine; eight grandchildren, Ashley Olles, Amanda (Ethan) O’Brien, Austin Buster, Abe Buster, Jacob White, Madison Reynolds, Ashleigh White and Cooper White; six step-grandchildren, Zachariah (Danni) Zumwalt, Benjamin (Alicia) Zumwalt, Jacob Zumwalt, Zeena Zumwalt, Tade (Teagan) Kraklio, and Amanda Kraklio; five great-grandchildren, Joel Olles, Rachel Olles, Rebecca O’Brien, Benjamin O’Brien and Kaden Warren; and eight step-great-grandchildren, Zavier Zumwalt, Zach Zumwalt, Eva Zumwalt, Dylan Zumwalt, Lilith Munson, Taylynn Kraklio, Tianna Kraklio and Tade Kraklio.

Evert was preceded in death by his parents; and half-brother, George White.
