Lee Roy Jones was born on December 10, 1929 in Columbus Junction, Iowa, the son of Roy Evans Ellsworth and Lula Anna (Connor) Jones.  On February 26, 1960 Lee Roy was united in marriage to Dorothy Marilyn Lippens in Rock Island, Illinois.  He graduated in a class of four from Grandview High School and was employed at International Harvester Farmall for 33 years, serving as a drill operator, millwright, skilled trades representative and union steward.  He also farmed 120+ acres with his wife and son, raising Black Angus cattle, corn, soybeans, alfalfa and a large vegetable garden.  He had attended Calvary Church and the Fruitland Baptist Church.  He loved camping in the mountains when the children were young, wintering in Texas for seven years with his wife and making memories with his family.  Lee Roy also enjoyed using his backhoe to help out with the expansion projects at Calvary Church and Spring Valley Bible Camp.    Lee Roy’s greatest sadness came at the loss of his daughter, Marsha, when she was 29 years of age in a vehicular accident.

Lee Roy is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Dorothy of Muscatine; son, Robert Lee Jones and wife, Penny of Muscatine; daughter, Lisa Smock and husband, Rod of Muscatine; grandchildren, Monica Horchem, Jessica Jones, Joshua Jones and his wife, Megan, Kayla Carlsten and her husband, Jeremy, Matthew Calvert, Brody Smock and his wife, Melissa  and Rory Smock; 11 great-grandchildren; and 5 nieces and nephews.
