Obituary of Bernice A. Stalkfleet

Bernice A. Stalkfleet, 87, of Muscatine, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017, at Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services.  Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.  Following the committal services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Community Room.  Visitation will be held on Monday, November 27, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Bernice’s name.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Bernice Augusta McKillip was born on July 23, 1930, in Muscatine, Iowa the daughter of John W. and Helena E. (Friese) McKillip.  She was a graduate of Muscatine High School.  On December 31, 1949, Bernice was united in marriage to Lee Robert Stalkfleet in Muscatine.  She was a homemaker and was a member of the Shepard of the Cross Lutheran Church.   Bernice enjoyed baking, puzzles, babysitting grandchildren and spending time with her family.  

Bernice will be deeply missed by her children, Vicki King of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Rickey (Kathy) Stalkfleet of Chicago, Christine Shotwell of West Branch, and Pamela Stalkfleet of Iowa City; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and siblings, Chester McKillip and Esther Hansen.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lee on December 30, 2004, son, Daniel Stalkfleet, granddaughter, Deanna Stalkfleet, son-in-law, John King, brothers, Clifford, John Jr., and Clarence and sisters, Velma Trusdale and Anna Morgan.
