Obituary of Richard F. Duder

Richard F. Duder, 89, of Riverside, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2017, at Windmill Manor in Coralville.  Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2017, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside.  Burial will be held at a later date.  Following services, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the St. Mary’s Parish Center.  Visitation for Richard will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Riverside with a 4:00 p.m. Prayer Service.  Memorials may be directed to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside or Hospice Compasses in memory of Richard.  Online condolences for the family may be sent to www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Richard Francis Duder was born on July 19, 1928, in Riverside, Iowa the son of Stanley S. and Leola E. (Rummelhart) Duder.  He was a 1946 graduate of Riverside High School.  Richard served in the United States Army.  On August 25, 1952, Richard was united in marriage to Joan M. Luse in Iowa City.  Richard was a mechanic his entire life, owning and operating Dick’s Repair retiring in 1998.  Richard was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside and enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino, fishing and was an avid Chicago Cubs Fan.

Richard will be deeply missed by his wife, Joan; his children, Gerald (Deborah) Duder of Marshalltown, Beth Duder of Riverside and John Duder of Riverside; seven grandchildren, Michael (Amy) Duder, Michelle Duder, Lisa (Ryan) German, Jamie Duder, Jonathan Duder, Kelli Duder and Katie Duder; three great grandchildren; one brother, Donald Duder of Lone Tree and one sister, Anna Mae Duder of Lone Tree.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, son, Thomas, daughter, Patti, grandson, Nicholas and one brother, Kenneth.
