Obituary of Robert "Bob" Reed
Robert “Bob” Reed, 81, of Ottumwa, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Ridgewood Specialty Care. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 15, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Muscatine, Iowa. Interment will be in Klein Cemetery with military rites by the combined units of the V.F.W. Post 1565 and the American Legion Post #27. Visitation for Robert will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2017 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Robert’s name. Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.
Robert Reed was born on October 12, 1936, in Muscatine, the son of Walter and Anita (Lau) Reed. Robert served his country in the United States Army; he enlisted in the Korean War. On January 25, 2014, Robert was united in marriage to Guadalupe Fregoso in Ottumwa. He had retired from the Rock Island Arsenal as an Engineer and enjoyed farming along with raising chickens, and miniature Yorkies. He enjoyed fixing things and watching Western movies. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his family.
Robert was will be deeply missed by his wife, Guadalupe of Ottumwa; children, Nancy (John) McLaughlin of Cedar Rapids, Ronald Reed of Davie, Florida and Dennis Reed of Muscatine, Victor Miller of Carmi, IL; step-children, Rita Orosco, Rafeal Orosco, Marta Orosco, Jesus Orosco, Carlos Orosco, Angelica Orosco, Patricia Orosco and Ricardo Orosco; 7 grandchildren; 28 step-grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 20 step-great-grandchildren; siblings, Betty Paul of Muscatine, Beverly (Carl) Fisher of Burlington; Mary (Dan) Harrison of Wapello; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Elwood Miller; sister, Bernice Ivy and infant brother, Charles Wayne Reed.
