Obituary of Loretta June Emmons

Loretta J. Emmons, 76, of Illinois City, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family.  Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services.  Burial will be in the Illinois City Cemetery.  Visitation for Loretta will be Wednesday, December 27, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Compassus of Moline in memory of Loretta.  Sympathy notes for the family may be left at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. 

Loretta June Markins was born on August 18, 1941, in Ironton, Ohio, the daughter of John R. and Thelma S. (Russell) Markins.  On March 5, 1960, Loretta was united in marriage to Donald G. Emmons in Columbus, Ohio.  She was employed as a secretary for Pax Steel for 13 years and then Walmart from 1996 – 2002.  She enjoyed butterflies, birds, ceramics and life in general, but she dearly loved to spend time with her family and friends.

Loretta will be deeply missed by her husband, Donald of Illinois City; her children, Jon (Kris) Emmons of Omaha, Nebraska and Michael (Mary) Emmons of Cambridge, Illinois; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Monty Emmons and one sister, Barbara Arms.
