Obituary of Evelyn Ruth Ford

Evelyn R. Ford, 95, lifetime resident of Muscatine, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at Trinity Muscatine.  Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services.  Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.  Following the burial, a time of refreshments will be held at the Cottage Grove Community Room. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Evelyn Ruth Phillips was born on January 10, 1922 in Lake Township, Muscatine County, Iowa the daughter of Carl J. and Ethel M. (Hines) Phillips.  Evelyn was a 1939 graduate of Muscatine High School.  On December 12, 1940, Evelyn was united in marriage to Willard Woodhouse in Muscatine.  Following his passing in 1952, Evelyn was united in marriage to Warren H. Ford on May 6, 1955 in Fort Madison, Iowa.  She was a department manager for W.T. Grant Department Store from the day it opened in 1952 until the day it closed its doors in 1975, she then worked for Iowa Electric from 1976 – 1987.  Evelyn enjoyed fishing, traveling, cross stitch and more than anything, she dearly loved to spend time with her family.

Evelyn will be deeply missed by her children, Ruth (Rodney) Cook of Galveston, TX, Joyce Dunphy of Snug Harbor, RI, Nancy Bloomer of Flagstaff, AZ and Linda Vargus of Greeley, CO; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Evelyn was preceded in death by both husbands, children; Larry Ford, James Ford, Shirley Ford Reinier, Nancy Ford and Judith Ford Small; two grandsons; and siblings, Gwendolyn Robertson, Carl Phillips, Stuart Phillips and Norman Phillips.
