Obituary of Norman F. Tweed

Norman F. Tweed, 78, of Shelbyville, Indiana, formerly of Columbus Junction, Iowa passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Ashford Place in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services.  Burial will be in Columbus City Cemetery with military rites.     Visitation for Norman will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018,  from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services.  A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Norman’s name.  Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. 

Norman Frederick Tweed was born on May 13, 1939 in Mankato, Minnesota, the son of Adel and Eleanor (Ziegler) Tweed.  Norman served his country in the United States Army.  On November 25, 1978, he was united in marriage to Beverly A. Hayes in Wapello.  Norman retired from the Rock Island Arsenal where he had worked as a mail room clerk.  He was a member of the Allen Wright Hanft Post #100 American Legion in Columbus Junction.  He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, dancing, and watching sports.

Norman will be deeply missed by his daughter, Cindy (Tweed) wife of Dan Kuhn of Manilla; step-children, Bridgette Williams of Redding, CA, Susan Houtz of Ainsworth, Dennis Allen Houtz of King City, CA, Michael Houtz, Mark Houtz and Scott Houtz, all of Muscatine; two-grandchildren, Austin and Mykenzie Dodd; four step-grandchildren, Brandon, Brian, Mark Jr. and Beverly; six step-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Beannie McNeil and three nephews, Tom, Scott and Jim McNeil (sons of Trudy, Norm’s sister)

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beverly in 2012; one step-son, Doug and one sister, Trudy McNeil.
