Obituary of Lewis Glen Bixby, Jr.
Lewis Glen Bixby, Jr., 86, of Columbus Junction, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Burial will be in Columbus City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 30, 2018, at the funeral home in Columbus Junction from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Lewis’ name. Lewis Glen Bixby was born on January 6, 1932 in Nichols, Iowa, the son of Lewis G. Bixby, Sr. and Helen I. (Ravencraft) Bixby. On February 23, 1957, Lewis was united in marriage to Wilma Jean Reid in Muscatine, Iowa. Lewis served his country in the United States Air Force from 1950-1952. He retired as a driver from Eagle Foods after 23 years of service. Lewis was a member of the Church of Christ and enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping and mushroom hunting. He was also an exceptional billiards player, loved playing cards, working on cars and roller skating.
Lewis will be dearly missed by his children, Rodney Bixby, Jerry (Alice) Bixby, Lonnie (Shelby) Bixby all of Columbus Junction; daughter-in-law Mary Bixby of Columbus Junction; eleven grandchildren; twenty three great-grandchildren; and siblings, Robert (Sue) Bixby of Idaho and Patricia (Joe) Stroud of Hiram, Georgia.
Lewis was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wilma Bixby; son, Daryl Bixby; brothers, William and Leo Bixby; and sister, Leona Edgington.
