I was so sorry to read of Mrs. Platt's death. She was my teacher at Lincoln School and taught me Health. She was always so sweet and so pretty. I really enjoyed being one of her many pupils. We moved from Muscatine in 1966 and have come back many many times while my parents were living but was unaware that Dorothy was living at Sunnybrook. Had I known I would have popped in to see her. That would have been such a joy for me.
Please accept my sincere sympathy and may your memories bring you comfort and your faith bring you peace. You are in my thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time.

Tom and I offer our sympathy for the passing of your mother. She was quite a lady and I enjoyed visiting with her at Sunnybrook for a while last fall. Surely your entire family was blessed by her life and you all are missing her.

A truly innovative educator. An inspiration to children and adults. An incredibly strong spirit. A philanthropist. One of a kind. "Mrs. Platt" - to me 50 years ago - changed my life in wonderfully profound ways. I'm positive I'm not alone in that. I enjoyed visiting her at SunnyBrook when there to visit family - most recently at Easter. I will never forget her.
My sympathy to her family.

Penny and family – I was so sorry to hear about your loss. Your mother was my first grade teacher 50 years ago (!) and introduced me to a lifelong love of reading. It was so nice to meet up with her again this past year at Sunnybrook. My sincerest condolences.

This lady will truly be missed. I am in the process of taking all the embroidery class projects we have done together and making a quilt. I thought I would have it all ready to take to Columbus Junction in a couple of months to show. Oh, we will miss her.

I always enjoyed seeing the pictures you posted, Penny, on Facebook of you visiting your mother and doing crafts and sewing with her. While I never met Dorothy, it was clear to me that her family loved her very much and she was well cared for. I am sure she will be missed by all her life touched. I am thinking of you and the rest of your family during this difficult time.
Love,
Carol Anthony
