Obituary of Jolene S. Springman

Jolene S. Springman, 79, of Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.  Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018, at the New Era Lutheran Church.  Burial will be in the Krell Cemetery.  Following the committal service at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the church.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the New Era Church in memory of Jolene.  Online condolences may be left for family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.  The Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services is caring for Jolene’s arrangements and her family.

Jolene Sue Buchele was born on March 8, 1939, in Muscatine, Iowa the daughter of Davis and Dorothy (Reed) Buchele.  Jolene received her Master’s Degree of Science in Teaching.  Jolene taught in the Muscatine School District from 1970 - 1999.  She was united in marriage to Glen Springman and later divorced.  Jolene was a member of the New Era Lutheran Church and enjoyed spending time with her kids and pets, reading, dancing, playing cards, walking and traveling.

Jolene will be deeply missed by her children, Janna (Curt) Weiss of Muscatine, Shelly (Brent) VanDeMaat of Wapello, Cindy (Travis) Murphy of Jones, Oklahoma, Michael Springman of Muscatine and Katie (Kevin) Bushnell of Latham, Illinois; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren and siblings, Pat DeSilva of Watsonville, California, Byron Buchele of Muscatine and Doug (Linda) Buchele of Muscatine.

Jolene was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Shilah Lindle.
