Obituary of Basil "Sam" Skidmore

Basil “Sam” Skidmore, 72, of Muscatine passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2018, at his home.  A Celebration of Life will be held at noon on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Calvary Church.  A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Sam’s name.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. Basil Samuel Skidmore was born on August 14, 1945, in Colorado Springs, Colorado the son of Basil Everett and Charlene Marion (Steahr) Skidmore.  On July 1, 1967 he was united in marriage to Michele Elaine Jackson in Muscatine.  Basil was a 1963 graduate of Muscatine High School.  He joined the Army on July 9, 1963 and was discharged July 8, 1967 with the rank of Medical Specialist SP4 E4 (T).  Sam trained as an electrician after marriage and worked for Brossart Electric before going to work at Alter Trading in Davenport.  He received injuries at work and became disabled. 

Sam will be deeply missed by his wife, Michele “Mick”; sons, Tod, Guy and Christopher (Amy) Skidmore; grandchildren, Savannah and Ally; and sister, Cynthia Schmidt. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Therese; sister, Beverly Smith and a brother, Rodney Wayne Skidmore.
