Obituary of Janelle A Buster

Janelle A. Buster, 92, of Grandview, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home. Private burial will be in the Grandview Cemetery.  There will be no visitation.  The Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services is caring for Janelle’s arrangements and her family.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. 

Janelle was born January 27, 1926, in Wapello, Iowa, the 3rd daughter of Daniel McKay Yakle and Mabel Odle Yakle, growing up in a busy farm family of 9 children. After graduating from high school in 1944, she worked as a dental assistant in Wapello. Two years later on May 19, 1946, she married the love of her life, Wayne D. Buster, after dating only one week! They spent 21 years owning and working a business called "Highway Super Service" consisting of a Phillips 66 Gas Station, a small motel, a restaurant, and an Apco Gas Station, all located on Hwy 61 near the entrance of Grandview township. Janelle worked and managed the restaurant and was well known for the pies she baked. Wayne & Janelle enjoyed 66 years of marriage living on the same block in Grandview where they raised two children, Kathy and Greg. In 1967 "The Stations" was sold and Janelle took a job as a teller at Columbus Junction State Bank where she worked in several capacities as well as bank receptionist.  As enthusiastic travelers, they enjoyed many vacations, cruises, and trips over the years. Janelle and Wayne spent their first 21 years of retirement as “snow birds” - 6 months in Grandview and 6 months in Donna, Texas. In their 80's they returned to Grandview full-time. Wayne passed at age 88, while Janelle continued living in their home until age 92 when she moved to Colonial Manor in Columbus Junction.

Janelle will be dearly missed by her children, Kathy (Dennis) Hanson of Apple Valley, MN and Greg Buster of Grandview; granddaughter, Tara (Darin) Rasmussen of Rosemount, MN and their children, Gavin, Gillian and Paige Rasmussen, and sister, Beverly (Paul) Stineman of Grandview. 

Janelle was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Brian Michael Bohling; and siblings, Allene Cutkomp, Dorothea Harris, Mackie Krahl, Kay Wiele, Barbara Hewitt, Danny Yakle, and Jarret (Bud) Yakle.
