Obituary of Nancy Franklin

Nancy Franklin, 83, of Muscatine, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, July 28, 2018.  Cremation rites have been facilitated by the FCS Life Transition and Cremation Center.  A Celebration of Life Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at Zion Lutheran Church in Muscatine.  Inurnment will be at Zion Lutheran Church Columbarium.  Following the service, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Zion Lutheran Church or the Women of the Moose in Nancy’s name.  Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.  The Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services is caring for Nancy’s arrangements and her family. 

Nancy L. Grady was born on July 13, 1935, in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of James and Nellie (Loga) Grady.  On August 16, 1952, Nancy was united in marriage to Marvin Franklin in Musatine.  Nancy retired from K-Mart after 25 years. She was a lifelong member of the Zion Lutheran Church and active in the Ladies of the Moose.   Nancy enjoyed playing cards with the ladies, wintering in Texas, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Nancy’s children and grandchildren took very good care of her along with her two very special friends, Nikki and Sherry.

Nancy will be deeply missed by her children, Terry Franklin and wife, Tena of Muscatine, Cindy Wheeler and husband, Steve of Phoenix, Arizona and Tricia Honeyman and husband, Jim of Muscatine; 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and sisters-in-law, Barbara Grady, Betty Madson, Charlene Hubbard and brothers-in-law, Kenny and Gary Franklin. 

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin in 2014 and three brothers, Jim, Jerry and Lanny, who all served in our military.
