Obituary of Harold L. Bickett

Harold L. Bickett, 91, of Wapello, Iowa, passed away on Friday, September 7, 2018 at his home.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date at the Church of the Nazarene in Wapello.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial funeral has been established at the funeral home in memory of Harold.  Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.  The Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services is caring for Harold’s family and arrangements.

 

Harold Bickett was born on May 7, 1927, in Crawfordsville, Indiana the son of James Edward and Ida (Morris) Bickett.  Harold proudly served his country in the United States Army-Air Corp. during WWII as a mechanic. Harold was united in marriage to Hazel Bushman in 1950, she preceded him in death.  Harold was later united in marriage to Beulah Perriene.  Following Beulah’s passing, he was united in marriage to Merle DeVore on January 14, 2002.  Harold was a turkey farmer and truck driver.  He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Wapello and a past member of the Muscatine V.F.W. #1565.  He enjoyed working on cars, fishing, playing guitar, computer solitaire and spending time with his wife and family.

 

Harold will be deeply missed by his wife, Merle of Wapello Iowa; sons, John (Beverly) Bickett of Muscatine and James Bickett of Wapello; step-son, Glenn Strong of Reno Nevada; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, six brothers and four sisters.
