Obituary of Karna Marie Schnedler

Karna Marie Schnedler, 70, of Muscatine, passed away on Monday, September 24, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.  Services will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Burial will be in Andalusia Cemetery at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital.  Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. 

Karna Marie DeGeeter was born on July 13, 1948 in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Morris and Irene (Mortenson) DeGeeter.  Karna was a graduate of Moline High School and attended cosmotology school.  She was united in marriage to Thomas O’Neil, he preceded her in death and later married Dean Schnedler in Walcott, Iowa.  Karna had worked as a hair stylist and retired from Kraft Foods.  She was a member of the Andalusia Lion’s Club and a volunteer with the Andalusia Ambulance Service, which Karna and Thomas helped start.  Karna enjoyed camping, sewing and spending time with family especially during the holidays.  She will be remembered as being the best Swedish meatball maker in the world. 

Karna will be deeply missed by her husband, Dean; children, Shane (Donna) O’Neil of Otsego, MN, Shawn (Jennifer) O’Neil of Blue Grass, IA and Shanda Jones of Hills, IA; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. 

She was preceded in death by her first husband and one brother, Brad DeGeeter.
