Obituary of Joel "Coke" Murdock
Joel “Coke” E. Murdock, 71, of Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at his home. Cremation rites have been facilitated by the FCS Life Transition and Cremation Center. Joel Ernest Murdock was born on September 4, 1947 in Muscatine, Iowa the son of Wilbur and Gertrude (Jacobs) Murdock. Coke served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. On August 22, 1975, Coke was united in marriage to Susan Schillig in Wilton, Iowa. Coke had worked construction for the Local Union #309. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping and playing fast pitch softball.
Coke will be greatly missed by his wife, Susan; sons, Brian and Michael Murdock, both of Muscatine; daughters, Jolene (Bob) Tumlinson of Muscatine, Sara Murdock of Muscatine and Stephanie (Daniel) Robbins of Rutherfordton, NC; fifteen grandchildren, Joel Murdock, Kody Murdock, Briana Murdock, Abby Murdock, Eric Murdock, Drake Murdock, Karl Murdock, Logan Tumlinson, Skylar Tumlinson, Antonio Enriquez, Jasmine Mesa, Autumn Robbins, Daniel Robbins III and Isaiah Robbins; one great-grandson, Kaiden Brown; twin sister, Jewel (Dick) Wallerich and brother, Wesley Murdock.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Peter Murdock; granddaughter, Zaeda Murdock and brothers, Harold Murdock, Butch Murdock, Whitey Murdock, Cherokee Murdock and Ronald Murdock.
