Obituary of Keith Irwin

Keith Irwin, 92, of Illinois City, passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Lutheran Living in Muscatine.  A memorial service for Keith and Elaine will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services.  Following the service, a time of food and fellowship will be held in the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Community Room.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Unity Point Hospice in Keith and Elaine’s name.  Online condolences may be left at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Keith Jerome Irwin was born on May 25, 1926, in New Boston, Illinois the son of Clyde and Bernice (Spickler) Irwin.   Keith served his county in the United States Navy during World War II.  On July 25, 1946, Keith married his high school sweetheart, Alita Elaine Doak in Aledo, Illinois.  Keith farmed his entire life and was a pioneer in Conservation Agriculture.  He was a member of Pine Bluff United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 1166 and a charter member of Illinois City Fur Fin and Feather Conservation Club.   Keith enjoyed hunting and trapping. 

Keith will be deeply missed by his children, Vicki (Larry) Seitz of Chicago Heights, Illinois, Terry (Marshall) Ayers of New Boston and Virgil (Beth) Irwin of Illinois City; 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elaine of 70 years and his mother and father in law.
