Obituary of Karen I. Rivera

Karen I. Rivera, 72, of Muscatine, passed away on Monday, November 19, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.  Services will be held on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Interment will be in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery.   Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Community Room. Visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Karen’s name. Karen Irene Tompkins was born on July 19, 1946 in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of John William and Ella Louise (McKillip) Tompkins.  Karen was a graduate of Muscatine High School and had worked as a private duty aide at Community Health Resources, retiring in the Summer of 1999.  She enjoyed camping, fishing, computer games, gambling, playing bingo and spending time with her friends and family, especially the grandchildren. 

Karen will be deeply missed by her children, Crystal (James) Gault, Robert (Lori Richmond) Delano, Troy (Susan) Delano and Steven (Billie) Delano all of Muscatine; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Wilbur Tompkins of Florida, John (Judy) Tompkins, Jr. of Muscatine and Ivan Tompkins of Tipton; and sisters, Wilma Walwer of Defiance and Carol Cubbage of Muscatine. 

Karen was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Bernice Tompkins, Betty Cook and Mabel Goff.
