Obituary of Martha Gregan

Martha Gregan, 87, of Columbus Junction, Iowa, died on Monday, December 10, 2018 at Brown Deer Place in Coralville.  The Mass of the Resurrection for Martha will be on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 10:30 A. M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Columbus Junction.  Burial will be in Columbus City Cemetery.  Following the burial a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Allen Wright-Hanft American Legion Post #100 in Columbus Junction.   Visitation will be held on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the church.   A memorial has been established for St. Joseph Catholic Church in Martha’s name. Sympathy notes may be left to the Gregan family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.   The Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services are caring for Martha’s arrangements and her family. 

Martha Jean (Peiffer) Gregan was born May 22, 1931 in Keota, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Leona (Dumont ) Peiffer.  Martha married Frank Gregan on October 3, 1953 and lived in various Illinois communities before settling in Columbus Junction, Iowa in 1964.  Martha worked for Columbus Community Schools for several years but for most of her life she was a homemaker who enjoyed community activities, music, sewing, gardening and many crafts.  Martha and Frank liked to camp and also spent many winters enjoying their community in Texas.  She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Columbus Junction and served the church in many capacities over the years.
 

Left to remember Martha are her children, Joan Russett (Steve) of Iowa City, Deb Lassise (Mark) of Mason City, Sheila Gregan of Des Moines, Terry Gregan (Carole) of Highlands Ranch, CO and Tim Gregan (Margie) of Omaha, NE; 12 grandchildren, Sarah Russett (Adam Dupuy), Anne Russett (Matthew Fleming), Alex Gandrow, Sam Lassise, Max Lassise, Hannah Lassise, Emily Gregan, Audrey Gregan, Nate Lassise, Isabel Gregan, Ben Gregan and Iris Gregan; one great-grandchild Frances Fleming and two sisters, Suzann Judge and Maryann Dunn.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband Frank, her parents, three brothers, Gerald, Lloyd and Charles Peiffer and two sisters, Lillian Vittetoe and Lucille Cady.
