Obituary of Darlene F. Stender

Darlene Frances Stender, 91, of Muscatine passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Premier Estates of Muscatine.  Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 18, 2019, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services.  Burial will be in the Lime City Cemetery.  Following committal services, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Community Room.  Visitation will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Darlene.  Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Darlene Frances Proctor was born on October 23, 1927 in Lime City, IA, the daughter of Thomas and Bertha Ford Proctor. Darlene married Grant Parker Stender on February 20, 1946. Darlene loved baking and taking care of everyone around her. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially loved taking care of her puppy, Shadow.

Darlene will be deeply missed by her two daughters, Barbara (Steve) Hoffman of Muscatine, IA and Terrie Stender of Walcott, IA. She will also be greatly missed by her grandkids, Christy (Tim) Long of New Boston, IL, Mike (Paula) Mortenson of Muscatine, IA, Susie Hoffman of Cedar Rapids, IA, Sara Hoffman of Sterling, IL, Grant (Kelly) Stender of Letts, IA, Adam Stender of Walcott, IA, Shannon Keppel of Bluegrass, IA; siblings, Mary Benninger of Muskegon, MI, Lester (Ellen) Proctor of Rochester, IA, Linda (Ivan) Martin of Muscatine, IA; 19 great grandkids; 3 great great grandkids and many other family and friends.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband; Parker; son, Roger; great granddaughter, Kaitlyn, 5 sisters and 2 brothers.
