Obituary of Jim Ronan

James H. Ronan, 88, of Lone Tree, passed away on Friday, January 18, 2019, at Pioneer Park in Lone Tree.  Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree.  Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery.  Following the committal service at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Lone Tree American Legion.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Jim.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

James Henry Ronan was born on January 8, 1931, in Iowa City, Iowa the son of James S. and Nina L. (Clark) Ronan.  Jim was a 1949 graduate of Lone Tree High School.  On September 6, 1949, Jim married his sweetheart, Wanda E. Mills in Lone Tree.  He was a farmer his entire life in the Lone Tree area and drove school bus for Lone Tree Community School from 1964 – 1976 and then again from 1989 – 2004.  Jim had also worked at Rath Packing as a Hog Buyer and the University of Iowa.  Jim enjoyed hunting and his ponies, and dearly loved to attend his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Jim will be deeply missed by his wife of 70 years, Wanda of Lone Tree; children, Daniel Ronan of Lone Tree, Jan (Richard) Buchmayer of Solon, James Ronan of Lone Tree and Jon (Traci) Ronan of Lone Tree; 15 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; great grandson, Sanders Moffitt; daughter-in-law, Sandy Ronan; son-in-law, Charles See and sister, Marilyn Pequignot.
