Obituary of Edward Carl Watson

Ed Watson, 87, was born in Chicago, IL, lived his adult life in Woodridge IL followed by Ottawa, IL and finally Muscatine, IA. He passed away on Friday February 1, 2019 at home in Muscatine.

Born in Chicago, IL on December 7, 1931. He and Gloria met as teenagers in their church choir. Ed served in the army while Gloria was a nursing student and they married on May 14, 1955 followed by 63 wonderful years of marriage. He retired from AT&T in 1991 after 38 years of service. He enjoyed his family, traveling in his RV, camping, fishing, puttering in the yard, and watching the Chicago Cubs.

Ed and Gloria spent 17 years on the road working for RV MAPS International, traveling the United States building churches, children’s homes and Teen Challenges (a 1 year addiction recovery program for teenagers, men and women).  He worked on drywall installation and finishing, painting and other construction projects.

Ed was a true gentleman, a sweet man with a twinkle in his eyes when he smiled. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Gloria, children Karen (Scott) Rushford of Muscatine, Bill (Shannon) Watson of Lisle, IL, Bruce (Laura) Watson  of Newark, IL and Kristi (Vint) Norris of Montgomery, AL, 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
