Obituary of Audrey Smith

Audrey Smith 81, of Columbus Junction, passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2019, at The University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.  Services will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 11, 2019 at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services.    Burial will be in Columbus City Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 10, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  A memorial has been established in Audrey’s name.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Audrey Fay Fails was born on February 9, 1937 in Waverly, Iowa, the daughter of Gerald and Veleada (Miller) Fails.  On August 5, 1959, Audrey was united in marriage to Lyle Smith in Waverly.  Audrey was a homemaker and a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Columbus Junction.  In her early days she enjoyed playing the accordion and swimming.   Most recently she enjoyed taking walks, listening to music and nature.  Her greatest love was the time she spent with her family and attending her grandchildren’s activities. 

Audrey will be deeply missed by her husband, Lyle; daughter, Lori (Lonnie) Lawman of Livermore, IA, Shelley (Steve) Burger of Burlington and Diane (Jerry) Gerot of Columbus Junction; five grandchildren, Amber (Will) Douglass, Shauna (Craig) Bragg, Jordan (Andy) Wink, Zachary (Tori) Gerot and Christian Gerot and five great-grandchildren, Aria Bragg, Ephram Bragg, Thayer Bragg, MacArthur Douglass and Hudson Wink. 

            Audrey was preceded in death by her parents.
