I was shocked just now when I saw that Howard had died. I am so very sorry. I have such wonderful memories of the neighborhood on 8th and Oak St...always my favorite part of my childhood. Having the Peniston family right across the alley was like the coolest thing!! Best family ever!! Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Family, The heart gets heavy at the loss of a loved one. I pray for your peace and comfort of heart. How-Man is quite the character. Oh what a time we all had growing up. Looking back over some of those years, and witnessing him triumph over heartaches, rejoice in successes, and all with not so quiet strength. Know this, the flame of his candle may flicker, but will not be extinguished; forever shining in the hearts of the lives he has touched. Rest well Cousin, you deserve it!

Dearest Family, words cannot express the sadness and sense of loss felt with Howards passing. He was my partner in crime(antics), a confidante, and a second brother. He will be missed but always remembered. He's now surrounded by all his loved ones. What a rejoicing and rejoining celebration. God's blessings and comfort to you all. Rest In Heaven H, until we meet again. Love to all, Ousley

I was deeply saddened to hear of Howard's passing. He was a kind and gentle man with a heart of gold. Howard was also a very funny man. He would have everyone in stitches with some of his antics. My most heartfelt condolences go out to the family!! Rest in Paradise Howard!! Fly high with the Angels!!

My sincerest sympathies to the family. Although I wasn't close to Howard, he was always kind when we came to visit Muscatine both as a child and adult. I enjoyed his humor and laid back demeanor. My mom, Helen Peniston (married/widowed 2 Harold's uncle Eugene) sends her condolences as well. Heaven has another angel. RIP Howard.
