Obituary of Jean Everson
Shelby “Jean” Everson, 80 of Nichols, died February 24, 2019, after an extended illness surrounded by her family. Private family graveside services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in memory of Shelby. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. Jean was born July 28, 1938 in Dodgeville, Wisconsin to Martin Wilbur and Gertrude (Knuth) Peterson. Jean graduated from Madison East High School, Madison, WI in 1956 and married Evan Philip Everson, her high school sweetheart, on January 4, 1958.
Jean thoroughly enjoyed being a homemaker, family camping trips, reading, working puzzles, baking, and crafts of all kinds including; ceramics, painting, knitting, crocheting and quilting. For several years she owned and operated Ceramic Creations in Springville, Iowa. Prior to her retirement she worked several years as a Teacher’s Aide for the Lone Tree Community School District.
Jean is survived by her children; Sharyl (Russ) Grim, Nichols, IA; David (Amy),Hiawatha, IA; Barry (Teri), Springville, IA; Janice (Henry) Schaapveld , West Liberty, IA; James (Lori), Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren Ben (Angie) Everson; Meg (Brandon) Finn; Nick Everson, Jeff (Nikki) Grim; Adam , Amanda and Allison Heitman; Madison, John and Morgan Everson; great-grandchildren: Jayden, Ella, and Bode Everson; Collin and Elyse Finn; brothers Richard (Andrea) Peterson of Monona, WI; Victor (Sandy) Peterson, Madison, WI; Robert Peterson, Zephyr Hills, FL, and several nieces and nephews.
Jean is preceded in death by her husband, parents, two infant grand-daughters Rachel and Marissa Everson, and sister-in-law, Marietta Peterson.
