Obituary of Ray J. Jones

Ray J. Jones, 90, of Columbus Junction, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019 at his home.  Funeral services will be held Friday, March 8, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Burial will be in Columbus City Cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Washington County in Ray’s name.  Online condolences may be left at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Ray James Jones was born on October 1, 1928 in Gladwin, Iowa, the son of James M. and Lottie B. (Brown) Jones.  On March 31, 1962, he was united in marriage to Mary Hora in Lone Tree, Iowa.  Ray farmed his entire life and raised livestock.  He was a past member of the Columbus Junction Lions and enjoyed his garden and flowers. 

Ray will be deeply missed by his wife, Mary of Columbus Junction; children, Brian (Sheila) Jones of Columbus Junction, Craig (Holly) Jones of Washington, Tina (Dave) Jakubowsky of Riverside; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Wanda Skubal of Washington, Verlee Schneider of Columbus Junction, Lillian Christner of Winfield and Marion (Boone) Bell of Columbus Junction.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents and son, Jeffrey Jones.
