Obituary of Donald J. Schreiber

Donald J. Schreiber, 96, of Iowa City, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2019, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019, from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Lone Tree American Legion Post 457.  Following the visitation, there will be a short service and military rites by the Lone Tree American Legion.  A time of food and fellowship will be held at the Lone Tree American Legion following military rites.   The Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services of Lone Tree is caring for Donald’s family and arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Lone Tree American Legion Post or the Hills Fire and Rescue in memory of Donald.  Online condolences for the family may be sent to www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Donald Joseph Schreiber was born on May 19, 1922, in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Arthur George and Lydia (Wonick) Schreiber.  Donald proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII.  On January 30, 1946, Donald was united in marriage to Kathryn Musser in Lone Tree.  Donald was a farmer and a member of the Lone Tree American Legion Post 457.  He enjoyed farming, fishing and fox hunting.

Donald will be deeply missed by his sons, Michael Schreiber of Hills and Robert (Kathryn) Schreiber of Muscatine; six grandchildren, Tera, Emily, Katelyn, Ethan, Christine and Greg and five great grandchildren, Dylan, Jacob, Eliana, Ainsley and Asher.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kathryn on February 25, 2007 and one brother, Art Schreiber.
