Obituary of Vera Jean Westfall

Vera Jean Westfall, 90, of Hollister, Missouri, formerly of Lone Tree, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at Hopedale Cottage in Ozark, Missouri.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree.  Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.  Online condolences for the family may be sent to www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Vera Jean Lewis was born on February 24, 1929, in Lone Tree, Iowa the daughter of Edgar T. and Elva G. (Tuttle) Lewis.  Vera Jean was a 1948 graduate of Lone Tree High School.  On August 25, 1948, Vera Jean was united in marriage to Kenneth P. Westfall in Iowa City.  She was a homemaker and also helped her husband in his businesses as a bookkeeper.  Her greatest love was Kenneth, her kids, grandkids and great grandkids.  Jean and Kenneth spent many years traveling and camping, enjoying the outdoors and their time together.  Vera Jean and Kenneth lived in Hollister for 40 years, moving from West Liberty when they purchased Thunderhead Resort on Table Rock Lake in Branson, Missouri.  After retiring Vera Jean and Kenneth enjoyed living at their lake home where they spent many days enjoying taking their grandkids swimming, fishing and boating.  Vera Jean always had home cooked meals and treats ready after a fun day at the lake.

 Vera Jean will be deeply missed by her two sons, Gary Westfall of Iowa City and Rick Westfall and his wife, Lisa of Ozark, Missouri; three grandchildren, Nikki, Cory and Laura and two great grandchildren, Arlo and Simon.

Vera Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; one son, Alan Westfall; one brother, Edgar Lewis and one sister, Arlene Borges.
