Obituary of Daryl Alan Lenz

Daryl Lenz, 56, of Lone Tree, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2019, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at North Park in Lone Tree on Saturday, August 31, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. with a short remembrance service at 1:00 p.m.  Please bring lawn chairs.  The Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services of Lone Tree is caring for Daryl’s family and arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Daryl.  Online condolences for the family may be sent to www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Daryl Alan Lenz was born on November 14, 1962, in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Arthur and Dorothy (Krueger) Lenz.  He was a 1981 graduate of Lone Tree High School and a 1983 graduate of Morrison Institute of Technology, or as Daryl put it, a graduate of MIT.  On September 7, 2002, Daryl was united in marriage to the love of his life, Nancy Hotz at F.W. Kent Park in Oxford.  He worked for MMS Consultants Inc. in Iowa City for 36 years, starting on July 28, 1983.  Daryl enjoyed fishing, deer and goose hunting, NASCAR, driving his own stock car, traveling with his wife, antiquing, kayaking, going to the casinos and had a great love of camping.  Daryl was known as the “Master of the Campfire” by many.

Daryl will be deeply missed by his wife, Nancy of Lone Tree; two brothers, Dale (Audrey) Lenz of West Liberty and Delbert (Betty) Lenz of Lone Tree; mom and dad in-laws, William and Arlene Hotz of Iowa City; a very special cousin who was like his sister, Janet (Dave) Luedtke of Lone Tree; a niece, many nephews, great nieces and nephews; cousins and his fur babies, Brinks, Sampson and Priscilla.

Daryl was preceded in death by his parents.
