Obituary of Wendell A. Ranke

Wendell A. Ranke, 86, of Illinois City, died Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at his home. Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2005, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Don Sondrol will officiate the service. Casket bearers will be Jerry Downey, Darrell DeKeryl Jr., Kenny Stulz, Kevin Einfeldt, Trevor Einfeldt, and Ed Fry. Honorary Bearers will be George Stulz, Darrell DeKeryl Sr., Donnie DeKeryl, Gene Gorham, Norman Mack and Fred Thirtyacre. Burial will be in Rock Riverview Cemetery, in Moline, Illinois. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 1, 2005, at the funeral home. Wendell was born on September 28, 1918, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of William A. and Maura Nyenhuis Ranke. He married Fern McIntyre. She preceded him in death in 1986. Prior to being a self employed tool and dye maker he farmed. Survivors include cousins, Ray Nyenhuis and wife, Lorna, of Fredonia, and Kay Winegard and husband, Al, of Muscatine; and a special friend, James Costas, of Illinois City, Illinois.
